For the past several years Doritos has run a contest titled, Crash the Superbowl, in which anyone can make and submit a Doritos commercial. The winner is broadcast during the Superbowl.

This past year Sick Puppy Pictures entered the contest with an edgy, zombie based storyline.

On January 4, 2012, when the winners were announced, it became clear that Doritos was thinking “cute” over “edgy”. Three of the four finalists featured children or animals. Lesson learned.
But the cast and crew had a great time making this zombie romp. With three professional actors and a group of enthusiastic amateurs we spent a “killer” afternoon with zombie makeup, smoke machines and all the Doritos we could eat. We found a great location in the high desert outside of Pearblossom, California. The afternoon started out sunny, but before it was over we got snowed on when a freak storm came over the mountains. Even though we finished out of the money, we all would do it again tomorrow.
